Education and Research

Driving Public Health Innovation Through Education and Research

My educational journey reflects an unwavering commitment to biomedical research and public health. I hold a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from the Uganda Allied Health Examination Board (2015), and a Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Technology from Makerere University, Kampala Uganda (2021). Currently am pursuing a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Washington University in St. Louis (expected graduation May 2025).

My academic achievements are impressive, i have consistently received good grades, for example an “A” grade for the Applied Linear modelling class and Final project 2024, Association between sexual risk-taking behaviors and the intent to seek HIV/AIDs testing and prevention services among New York residents. (Secondary data analysis of publicly available dataset). I have also co-authored a group paper for the Epi methods class, “Association between sexual risk-taking behaviors and the intent to seek HIV/AIDs testing and prevention services among New York residents” (2024).

Georgewilliam’s research interests lie in public health challenges faced by low- and middle-income communities, particularly HIV/AIDS, TB and other infectious diseases. My case presentation on “Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis in Ugandan HIV/AIDs Patients” (2023)”exemplifies this focus. I have also explored the impact of sexual education programs on adolescent knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases (2023) a research methods class paper and analyzed factors associated with syphilis-HIV co-infection among newly diagnosed HIV patients in Uganda (2020) for the award of BBLT degree.

Professional Skills

Georgewilliam’s professional experience spans laboratory science, research, and community outreach. From 2016 to 2023, I served in various roles at the AIDs Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Uganda. Began as a Medical Laboratory Assistant, conducting community HIV testing and promoting condom distribution (2016-2017). Then transitioned to Laboratory Technician/Biosafety Officer, performing tests, interpreting results, and overseeing waste management and infection prevention (2017-2020). My dedication to quality control is evident in the achievement of raising laboratory test result validity from 95% to 99.4%, leading to a promotion to Laboratory Supervisor (2020-2023).

Currently, Georgewilliam is a Biomedical Informatics and Data Science Research Intern at the Institute for Informatics, Data Science, and Biostatistics at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine (2024-present). Here, am gaining valuable experience in developing a cancer registry and data harmonization, critical skills for modern evidence-based scientific research.
